High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The 14th Anti-Submarine Squadron is an inactive Army Air Force unit. Its last assignment was with the Second Air Force, based at Biggs Field, Texas. It was inactivated on 5 November 1943. The squadron was established in October 1942 to patrol the New England coastline and offshore waters for enemy submarines off the coast of Massachusetts, primarily around the Boston area and sea lanes initially with unarmed light observation aircraft. Later assigned B-25 Mitchell and B-34 Ventura medium bombers and reassigned to patrol Mid-Atlantic coastline between Delaware Bay and Norfolk/Newport News area Antisubmarine missions taken over by United States Navy patrol aircraft at the end of September 1943.
