Founded in 1880 as St. Mark's (West Gorton), they became Ardwick Association Football Club in 1887 before settling on the club name of Manchester City Football Club in 1894. The 1910–11 season was Manchester City F.C.'s twentieth season of league football and first season back in the First Division of English football following their promotion at the first attempt in the previous season.
