The 1916–17 season is the 27th season of competitive football by Rangers. Rangers played a total of 38 competitive matches during the 1916–17 season. They finished third in the Scottish League Division One after winning 24 of the 38 league matches and collecting a total of 53 points (11 behind league winners Celtic). The Scottish Cup was not competed for this season as the Scottish Football Association had withdrawn the tournament due to the outbreak of the First World War. Rangers Football Club are an association football team based in Glasgow, Scotland, who currently play in the Scottish Premier League. The club are nicknamed the Gers, Teddy Bears (from the rhyming slang for the same) and the Light Blues, and the fans are known to each other as bluenoses.
