High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The 1937 Australian Grand Prix was a motor race held on the roads in and around the South Australian town of Port Elliott on Boxing Day, 26 December 1936. Many contradictions exist about the race, firstly being held in 1936, rather than 1937. Secondly, the race has only become known as the 1937 Australian Grand Prix in more recent times. The race was known at the time as South Australian Centenary Grand Prix. The last Australian Grand Prix had been held some 21 months prior and no succeeding event had been planned. Eventually the Australian Grand Prix would be revived in April 1938. The stature of this race, the largest such race held in the three-year gap saw it incorporated into the Australian Grand Prix folklore.
