The tournament concluded with the Eastern Conference champion Boston Celtics defeating the Western Conference champion St. Louis Hawks, four games to three in the NBA Finals. This was the second consecutive and third overall NBA championship for the Celtics, who gained a measure of revenge for the Hawks' championship win over them two years prior. The 1960 Finals marked the third Celtics/Hawks championship series in the past four years.
