The tournament concluded with the Eastern Conference champion Washington Bullets defeating the Western Conference champion Seattle SuperSonics four games to three in the Finals. Wes Unseld of the Bullets was named NBA Finals MVP. To date, it remains the first and only NBA Championship that the Washington Bullets have ever won.
