The race was created in response to V8Supercar`s need to hold an event at the massively popular Mount Panorama Circuit, without competing in the Bathurst 1000 as V8Supercar organisers AVESCO were in conflict with the Bathurst 1000 organisers, the Australian Racing Drivers` Club.
