This almost occurred during the 2005-06 playoffs when the Carolina Panthers and Washington Redskins advanced to the Divisional playoffs. The Panthers won at Chicago by a score of 29-21, but the Redskins could not hold up their end of the bargain for the Panthers to host the NFC Championship and lost at Seattle 20-10.
