It was held from 19 to October 21 at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in Sao Paulo. The Championship was decided in the race, which was won by Kimi Raikkonen. Lewis Hamilton, who held a four point lead over Fernando Alonso, and a seven point lead over Raikkonen, was slowed by a gearbox problem early in the race.
