The 2010 FIA GT1 World Championship season is the debut of the FIA GT1 World Championship, a replacement for the FIA GT Championship which was held from 1997 to 2009. It is the first sports car racing series approved by the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) as a World Championship since the demise of the World Sportscar Championship in 1992. Developed by the Stephane Ratel Organisation (SRO), the FIA GT1 World Championship will hold ten events in ten countries on four continents. Six manufacturers have entered the series, the maximum allowed by the series regulations. Twelve teams will represent the marques of Aston Martin, Corvette, Ford, Lamborghini, Maserati, and Nissan. A championship title will be awarded to the highest scoring drivers as well as the highest scoring team.
