The head coach was Matt Painter, in his seventh season with the Boilers. The team played its home games in Mackey Arena in West Lafayette, Indiana, U.S., and was a member of the Big Ten Conference. The Boilermakers season finished with 22-13 overall record, 10-8 in Big 10 play, finished in 6th place. In the 2012 NCAA Division I Men`s Basketball Tournament, they beat Saint Mary`s in the second round before falling to Kansas in the third round.
