The 2012 Christmas tornado outbreak was the largest tornado outbreak ever to occur in the United States on December 25, and a severe weather event that affected the United States Gulf Coast and East Coast over a two-day span. It occurred in conjunction with a much larger winter storm event. In total, 28 tornadoes were confirmed by the National Weather Service in five states from Texas to North Carolina. All but one tornado from the outbreak occurred on December 25, with the other occurring the following day in North Carolina.
