The 449th Air Expeditionary Wing is a provisional United States Air Force unit assigned to the United States Air Forces in Europe Seventeenth Air Force. It may be activated or inactivated at any time. It was last known to be stationed at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. Its assignment was to support the Africa Command and Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa mission supporting varied U.S. objectives in the area. Sibling organizations are the 294th Infantry Battalion; 1st Battalion, 3d Infantry Regiment and various Explosive Ordinance Disposal Teams.
