A Gift of Friendship

For nearly half a century, Hilary Clay, a laywoman, corresponded with her friend Ton, a Dutch priest residing variously in Holland and the Philippines. Their actual meetings were few and far between throughout this time, but their friendship and shared faith were as strong as if they were meeting face to face daily. Through quotations from Ton`s letters and Hilary`s memories emerges a tale of their developing and deepening spiritual friendship spanning relative youth to old age, with all the attendant joys and woes and their growing mutual belief in their friendship as a gift from God.
