Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Acanthobrama hulensis is a species of ray-finned fish in the Cyprinidae family. It was found only in Israel. Its natural habitats were swamps and freshwater lakes. It looked much like a sardin (in Israel, other members of the genus often are referred to as "sardin" in culinary terms). It is extinct now, after the draining of Hulah Lake in the 1950s. The family Cyprinidae, from the Ancient Greek kyprinos ( , "carp"), consists of the carps, the true minnows, and their relatives (e.g. the barbs and barbels). Commonly called the carp family or the minnow family, its members are also known as cyprinids. It is the largest family of fresh-water fish, with over 2,400 species in about 220 genera. The family belongs to the order Cypriniformes, of whose genera and species the cyprinids make up two-thirds.
