Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. The Eastern Blackheaded Budworm (Acleris variana) is a moth of the Tortricidae family. It is found in Newfoundland and Cape Breton Island and the northeast United States, across the coniferous forest region of Canada, presumably to Saskatchewan or eastern Alberta. The larvae mainly feed on Abies balsamea and Picea glauca. Tortricidae is a family of moths in the order Lepidoptera. They are commonly known as tortrix moths. It is a large family with over 9,400 species described, and is the sole member of the superfamily Tortricoidea. Many of these are economically important pests. Olethreutidae is a junior synonym. The typical resting posture is with the wings folded back producing a rather rounded profile.
