High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The ADMS 3 is an advanced atmospheric pollution dispersion model for calculating concentrations of atmospheric pollutants emitted both continuously from point, line, volume and area sources, or intermittently from point sources. It was developed by Cambridge Environmental Research Consultants of the UK in collaboration with the UK Meteorological Office, National Power plc and the University of Surrey. The first version of ADMS was released in 1993. The current version 3 was released in February 1999 and runs only in the Microsoft Windows environment even though it still has a FORTRAN codebase. Version 4 is scheduled for release this summer with added features. The model includes algorithms which take into account: downwash effects of nearby buildings within the path of the dispersing pollution plume; effects of complex terrain; effects of coastline locations; wet deposition, gravitational settling and dry deposition; short term fluctuations in pollutant concentration; chemical reactions; radioactive decay and gamma-dose; pollution plume rise as a function of distance and jets and directional releases.
