Affliction: Trilogy was a mixed martial arts event scheduled to be promoted by Affliction Entertainment on August 1, 2009 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The main event was initially scheduled to feature the current World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts (WAMMA) heavyweight champion, Fedor Emelianenko, defending his title against former UFC Heavyweight Champion and #1 contender Josh Barnett, but Barnett was forced to pull out ten days before the fight after the California State Athletic Commission denied Barnett a license to fight due to him testing positive for a banned substance. The entire card was later cancelled, citing an inability to find and adequately promote a replacement. Affliction also announced it would cease all fight promoting and would return as a UFC sponsor. Other matchups included a battle between lightweight standouts as 2007 IFL Grand Prix finalist Chris Horodecki battles Dan Lauzon.
