High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Ahmed Belbachir Haskouri (1908 – 1962) is one of the Founding Fathers of independent Morocco. First and foremost, he had strong humanitarian convictions, thereby he believed in the power of performing good deeds. Given that he held very important positions during the latter part of the occupation, he used that as a means to help others. In brief, he was one of the number of elite philanthropists, the likes of which did not abound in Morocco at the time. Therefore, his wealth coupled with his unlimited access to governmental/palace funds allowed the forces of nationalism at work to hinge on him.In essence, he was a palace nationalist who played the "ambassadorial" card to liberate Morocco as illustrated by Miguel Martinez-Mena, a Spanish journalist. This was actualized via a continuous social, political and economic dialogue with the Spaniards in spite of very difficult times; this dialogue successfully culminated with the independence by 1956. Such an importance was further reflected by the country's reliance on him during post-independence to administratively merge the two previously separated zones.
