Brown, PhD (March 20, 1928 – March 22, 2010) was a Professor of Economics who founded the international honor society in Economics, Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE), which he began while he was a student at City College of New York (CCNY) in 1955, and which now has 600 chapters worldwide. This was a significant accomplishment, as he came to the U.S. in 1949 at age 21, having survived the Nazi Holocaust as the sole survivor of his family (except for three scattered cousins), without money or knowledge of the English language.
