It is designated a core route in Canada`s National Highway System, connecting the Peace Country to the Edmonton Capital Region, and comprises Alberta`s northernmost leg of the CANAMEX Corridor. Highway 43 spans approximately 499 km (310 mi) from Alberta`s border with British Columbia to the Yellowhead Highway (Highway 16).
