This study evaluated alcohol consumption and drinking-related consequences among U.S. undergraduate college students with and without disabilities. There has been extensive prior research on the alcohol consumption of the general undergraduate student population, typically to the exclusion of students with disabilities. Studies of college student drinking frequency and consequences have consistently found that alcohol abuse is problematic on most campuses. Among the questions asked of students from this survey were how often they drink, how much they consumed per drinking occasion, specific behaviors/consequences in relation to their drinking, and their disability status. Results of this descriptive study showed that undergraduate students with and without a disability engaged in binge drinking at an equivalent high rate, regardless of disability status. Students who self-identified as having a disability, on average, reported binge drinking at the same rate as those students without disability and experienced drinking-related consequences that were similar to students without disability.
