He is best known for his work on the hit series The West Wing, where he served as Producer, Supervising producer, Co-executive producer, and finally Executive producer. In 2007, he directed and executive produced the pilot for the short-lived drama Journeyman which aired on NBC. In between, he directed the pilot episode of The Nine for ABC, also serving as an executive producer. In 2009, Graves went on to direct the pilot of the FOX science fiction series Fringe. In 2011, he directed a pilot, again for ABC, entitled Poe based on the life of the famed author, which did not go to series. Graves currently serves as Executive producer on the FOX adventure series Terra Nova, which he directed the pilot episode of. He also recently directed an episode of the ABC period drama Pan Am.
