Astronium fraxinifolium is a species of flowering tree in the cashew family, Anacardiaceae, that is native to Yucatan in Mexico, Central America, and South America as far south as Bolivia. Common names include Glassywood, Ronron (Spanish), and Aroeira (Portuguese). This plant is cited in Flora Brasiliensis by Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius. Anacardiaceae (the cashew family or the sumac family) is a family of flowering plants bearing fruits that are drupes and in some cases producing urushiol, an irritant. Its numerous genera include several of economic importance.
