Montgomery (born July 23, 1950) is a Canadian-born actress currently living in California. Montgomery was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. She is perhaps best known as Mrs. Katherine Howser, the matriarch in the ABC medical comedy-drama Doogie Howser, M.D. She had a starring role in the 1970s science-fiction show Man from Atlantis as Dr. Elizabeth Merrill and also had a recurring role as Caroline Crockett/Ballard in the 1980s cop show Miami Vice.
