Bob Wiseman is a Canadian musician, filmmaker, singer-songwriter, and actor. Raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, his outsider music utilizes projections often incorporating avant garde elements and often containing explicit political themes.A student of freely improvised piano music at York University he joined his first band in 1984 Blue Rodeo and quit in 1992. During 1982 - 1989 he regularly played at open stages and learned the craft of songwriting from the stimulating community of artists of varied backgrounds who also played weekly open stages in Toronto. His first solo album - Bob Wiseman Sings Wrench Tuttle: In Her Dream released in 1989 created some notoriety when the first thousand copies were destroyed by Warner Music Canada due to the song "Rock and Tree" being feared libelous (it was about the murder of Salvador Allende and mentioned Richard Nixon, Henry Kissinger and Donald M. Kendall, the president of Pepsi Cola). "Wrench Tuttle", the credited songwriter, was in fact simply a pseudonym for Wiseman himself.
