Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Boettger's Lizard (Gallotia caesaris) is a lacertid (wall lizard) endemic to two of the western Canary Islands, El Hierro and La Gomera. On the neighboring islands Tenerife and La Palma it is replaced by its close relative Gallotia galloti (Maca-Meyer et al. 2003). It has been introduced by humans on the Portuguese island of Madeira. Lacertidae is the family of the wall lizards, or true lizards, which are native to Europe, Africa, and Asia. The group includes the genus Lacerta, which contains some of the most commonly seen lizard species in Europe.
