High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The bog turtle Glyptemys muhlenbergii is the smallest North American turtle, measuring roughly 4 inches (10 cm) long when fully grown. It is also one of the smallest turtles in the world and looks similar to the painted turtle and the spotted turtle. Despite this, the bog turtle's closest relative is the somewhat larger wood turtle. The bog turtle's natural habitat range includes states north and south between Vermont and Georgia and east and west between Vermont and Ohio. The bog turtle is endemic to the eastern United States and is protected under the United States Federal Endangered Species Act. It is considered threatened at the federal level and endangered in some states.
