It is a suburb in the Kansas City, Missouri Metropolitan Area. The vast majority of the city, which lies in Wyandotte County, is part of the "Unified Government" which contains Kansas City, Kansas, Bonner Springs, Edwardsville, and roughly half of Lake Quivira. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 7,314.
