Boyd was discovered while he had a part time job, working as a carpenter (theater) for a theatre in Kentucky. A girl who was watching the play asked him if he wanted to move to New York City to become a model. Since first signing with Elite Models in 2001, Boyd has worked for other agencies, such as Wilhelmina Models, Major Paris, Next, IMG, 2pm Model Management, View Management, Models1, Bleu, Friday, d'Men, ScanElite, and Public Image Worldwide.
