High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Broughton is a village in Tweeddale in the Scottish Borders. Towns and villages nearby include Biggar, Drumelzier, Kilbucho, and Peebles. The village has a post office, village store, bowling green, tennis courts, a village hall, petrol station and garage, and an art gallery. There is also a small cask ale brewery, Broughton Brewery, which produces many popular beers, including "Merlin", "Black Douglas", "Scottish Oatmeal Stout" and "Greenmantle". The village is best known as the one-time home of John Buchan. Biggar Museum Trust run a museum dedicated to his life there, but is under threat of closure. It is also home to Broughton Place, a private house built in the style of a 17th-century Scottish tower house, which was designed by Basil Spence in 1938 and incorporates decorative reliefs by architectural sculptor Hew Lorimer.
