The Cape Parrot (Poicephalus robustus), also known as the Brown-Necked Parrot or Levaillant's Parrot, is the largest of the Poicephalus parrots.The Cape Parrot is the largest parrot of the African genus Poicephalus. It is a short-tailed medium-sized bird with an oversized beak used to crack all sorts of hard nuts, especially those of yellow pine (Podocarpus sp.), and various palms. The species is sexually dimorphic, with females sporting the bright orange frontal patch on the forehead.The range includes portions of West Africa, East Africa, and south from there to South Africa, including the eastern Cape region. Their habitat range includes Podocarpus forest, riverine woodlands, savanna woodland, montane forests, and lowland forests depending on the subspecies.
