It opened in 1892, making it one of the oldest law schools in the country. It was one of the first schools accredited by the American Bar Association and was a charter member of the Association of American Law Schools (AALS). Students of color were admitted with the first entering class in 1892; women were admitted in 1918. It currently has a curriculum of more than 200 courses, over 150 of which were newly added since 1997. In addition to the Juris Doctor degree, Case Western offers an LL.M. in U.S. Law to foreign lawyers. The student/faculty ratio is 13.8. 98.6% of graduates are employed or in post-J.D. degree programs. The median starting salary is 18% above the national average.
