Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Chlorogalum purpureum is a species of soap plant known by the common name purple amole. This flowering plant is endemic to California where it grows in the mountain ranges of the Central Coast. This is a perennial plant growing from a bulb about 3 centimeters in diameter. The wavy, threadlike leaves grow at the base of the stem, which bears flowers at widely spaced nodes. Each flower has curled tepals each less than a centimeter long in blue or purple, and very long stamens with yellow anthers around a protruding style. There are two varieties of this plant, and both are believed to be quite rare.
