City of Adelaide (known as HMS Carrick from 1923 to 1948, and simply Carrick from 1949 to 1992) was built by William Pile (shipbuilder) in Sunderland, England, and was launched in 1864. The City of Adelaide is the world's oldest surviving clipper ship, one of only two surviving composite clippers (the other is the Cutty Sark; built 1869), an A-listed structure in Scotland, part of the National Historic Fleet, and listed in the prestigious Core Collection of the United Kingdom.
