The leading international instruments of the Inter- American system for the protection of human rights are compiled in this publication. The objective of this compilation is to serve as a guide for users of the system. It includes the various declarations, conventions, and protocols that spell out the mandate and functions of the organs of the system -the Inter- American Commission on Human Rights and the Inter- American Court of Human Rights, as well as the obligations of the Member States of the Organization of American States in the field of human rights.
