Consol Energy (former name: The Consolidation Coal Company) is an energy company headquartered in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, suburb of Cecil Township, in the Southpointe complex. It is one of the US`s largest coal mining companies, along with Peabody Energy and Arch Coal. The company has some 4.5 billion tons of proved reserves, mainly in northern and central Appalachia and the Illinois Basin, and produces about 65 million tons of coal annually. The company has natural gas reserves totaling 1.9 trillion cubic feet (54 billion cubic metres).
