High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS) is a specification for improving interoperability between Enterprise Content Management systems. OASIS approved CMIS as an OASIS Specification on May 1, 2010. It proposes a data model plus a set of generic services and several protocol bindings for these services, including: SOAP and Representational State Transfer (REST) - using Atom convention. Although starting as an industry initiative by AIIM, CMIS is now being administered by standards body, OASIS. Participants in the process include Liferay, Alfresco, Day Software, EMC, FatWire, IBM, Microsoft, Open Text, Oracle and SAP. The standard is available for public comment at OASIS.
