Core Mathematics 1 (C1) is the first of two core mathematics modules in the AS level mathematics syllabus offered by Edexcel. Primarily used in the United Kingdom; students study C1 alongside another AS mathematics module including S1 (Statistics) or D1 (Decision Mathematics).C1 was introduced a long with the other three core modules, (C2, C3 and C4) in 2000. In 2008 when the AS specifications changed for many AS subjects, the C1 module remained the same. The module equivalent to C1 was called P1 and included many different subject areas other than the main 8 (as seen below) In 2000, the module was refined and has not changed to date.
