By the time he was 17, he moved to London to attend the Central School of Speech and Drama, whereupon he was chosen to become a member of the pop band Deuce, scoring four top 30 single hits. Shortly after performing in the group, Young appeared in the West End production of Much Ado about Nothing at the Queen's Theatre.
