He has been a Professor of Composition at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music since 1985, and Composer-in- Residence with Thick Description since 1990. Conte earned a BM from Bowling Green State University and a MFA and DMA from Cornell University, where he studied with Karel Husa and Steven Stucky.
