Born to Anima and Pramod Kumar Mukhopadhyay, he grew up in Calcutta. He is currently the Dean (Research & Development) of MIT Group of Institutions and Head of Information Technology, Maharashtra Institute of Technology in Pune, India. Mukhopadhyay is a Distinguished Adjunct Professor at Curtin University, Australia.
