High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Delegated Path Discovery (DPD) is a method for querying a trusted server for information about a public key certificate. DPD allows clients to obtain collated certificate information from a trusted DPD server. This information may then be used by the client to validate the subject certificate. The requirements for DPD are described in RFC 3379. In cryptography, a public key certificate (also known as a digital certificate or identity certificate) is an electronic document which uses a digital signature to bind together a public key with an identity — information such as the name of a person or an organization, their address, and so forth. The certificate can be used to verify that a public key belongs to an individual.
