The structure consists of a central phosphorus atom, which is connected to an oxygen by a double bond. It also binds to a fluoride as a leaving group which is biologically reactive and two dimethyl amine as lipophilic groups. Dimefox was used as pesticide, but has been deemed obsolete or discontinued for use by the World Health Organisation. However, they do not guarantee that all commercial use of this compound ceased.
