DirectVobSub formerly known as VSFilter is a software add-on for Microsoft Windows (a DirectShow filter) that is able to read external subtitle files and render their subtitles along with digital video playback. DirectVobSub/VSFilter were formerly part of a whole application known as VobSub which was also able to extract subtitles from DVD Video and create text-based subtitles. The last version of VobSub was version 2.23, after which the development of VobSub ceased. VSFilter was a part of the guliverkli project on SourceForge web site. However, development ceased in 2005 with version 2.37. In 2007, it became a part of the Guliverkli2 project, now known as DirectVobSub, starting with version 2.38.
