Dose is known for his nasal, high pitched, fast polyrhythmic rapping style and abstract lyrics. He often simultaneously performs synth, sampler, or keyboard on stage. His words tend to express upon topics of childhood, nature, and American life. Early in his musical career, Dose was in a freestyle rap battle with a then unknown Eminem at Scribble Jam 1997. He is a founding member of the Anticon hip hop collective, recording with cLOUDDEAD, Boom Bip, Themselves, Greenthink, Deep Puddle Dynamics, Subtle, as well as cameo appearances with many other artists, such as Aesop Rock, Sole, and Mike Patton's Peeping Tom. His latest projects have been Subtle's ExitingARM, the solo album Skeleton Repellent, and the spoken word album Soft Skulls.
