High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Federal Detention Center, SeaTac (FDC SeaTac) is a prison operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. It is located in Seattle, Washington, near the Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, 12 miles (19 km) south of downtown Seattle and 16 miles (26 km) north of Tacoma, 1 mile (2 km) west of the 200th Street exit at the Interstate 5. The administrative facility employed 144 staff as of 2002 and housed 821 male and female inmates as of July 29, 2010. Inmates are issued a "standard bed roll" consisting of bedding and towels upon arrival. Once assigned to a unit, inmates are estimated for size, provided clothes, and issued an identification card that must be carried at all times except to and from showers. Inmates are transferred between federal detention centers by air through the Justice Prisoner and Alien Transportation System, also known as Con Air. Inmate Colton Harris-Moore was required to wear handcuffs and leg irons while being transported to SeaTac from the Federal Detention Center in Miami.
