High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! The Five Spot Cafe was originally located at 5 Cooper Square, New York City. Business cards report "5 Cooper Square, 3rd Ave. between 4th and 5th Streets". Later, the brothers Termini, owners of the club, relocated the Five Spot to 2 St. Marks Place. It was a very small place, where in the winter you had to stow your coat in the window well near the front door. The tables were very close to each other and to the small stage where the musicians performed. Artists performing at the original Five Spot included Charles Mingus and Cecil Taylor. Mingus played the final gig at the old Five Spot before it was demolished.
