Floatopia was originated in 2003 by UCSB students Yvonne Foletta and Christina Troutner. Between 2004-2007 it had a relatively small following maintained by UCSB club soccer members Chris Arreguin and Joe Ferreira. These years attendance usually maxed out with 500-1000 participants.
