High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Fritillaria orientalis is a species of monocotyledon plant of the family Liliaceae, genus Fritillaria. It was described by Johann Friedrich Adam in 1805. It flourishes on grass and brush in limestone valleys. The plant flowers from April until May. The flowers are single, or in twos or threes. Fritillaria is a genus of about 100 species of bulbous plants in the family Liliaceae, native to temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. The name is derived from the Latin term for a dice-box (fritillus), and probably refers to the checkered pattern, frequently of chocolate-brown and greenish yellow, that is common to many species' flowers.
